2024 Data Breach Investigations Report: Espionage attacks dominate APAC’s cyber security landscape | News Release

Verizon Business says 25% of cyberattacks in the Asia-Pacific region are motivated by espionage. The attacks exploit vulnerabilities, with such threats seeing a 180% growth. Over 66% of breaches involve a non-malicious human element, such as falling for a social engineering attack. On average, it takes 55 days for companies to patch 50% of their critical vulnerabilities. Verizon analyzed a record 30,458 security incidents and 10,626 confirmed data breaches in 2023, double the rate of 2022.
