21 people lose at least $210k in malware scams

At least 21 people lost S$210,000 (RM721,450) in September to fraudulent activities when trying to sell second-hand goods online. The victims would converse with criminals via WhatsApp adverts on Facebook, who convinced them to download an Android Package Kit (APK) malware that enabled them to steal banking details and passwords. Police have warned Facebook users to exercise caution when dealing with online ads.
