327 healthcare data breaches reported so far in 2023

Data breaches in healthcare have surged 104% in 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, affecting over 40 million patients and resulting in at least five breaches compromising 3 million records each. Most breaches – 75% – were hacking/IT incidents, with 65% originating from network servers. These breaches largely impacted healthcare providers, who represented 62% of affected entities.
