8 dead, 2,700 injured after simultaneous pager explosions in Lebanon
A wave of pager explosions in Lebanon and Syria has left at least eight people dead, including a young girl, and over 2,700 injured. Many of the victims are Hezbollah members. The explosions may be due to malware triggering the lithium-ion batteries within recently imported Hezbollah pagers. Hezbollah officials are blaming Israel for the event, though no responsibility has been claimed. Even Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon was injured.
