Dark Cloud: Inside The Pentagon’s Leaked Internet Surveillance Archive

The UpGuard Cyber Risk Team discovered a data breach involving three publicly downloadable cloud-based storage servers. The Department of Defense immediately resolved the “active data breach” upon notification. The exposed information consists of billions of data scraped from internet posts and commentary since 2009, and originates from the US and other countries. Collected by defunct contractor VendorX for the Pentagon’s intelligence-gathering operation, the exposure has sparked concerns regarding the legality of known Pentagon surveillance against US citizens.
