Medtronic has reported a cyber breach of a vulnerability in its Paceart Optima System, which manages patients’ cardiac device data. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has urged healthcare organizations to work with Medtronic to install updates that eliminate the vulnerability and to minimize network exposure for control system devices. Cyberattacks on medical devices can lead to inaccurate readings, drug overdoses, and other dangers to patient health. The FBI has previously warned about the vulnerabilities of connected medical devices.
