Integrating ‘code dark’ into healthcare emergency response
Ransomware attacks are the top concern for healthcare cybersecurity officers. Nate Lesser, VP and CISO of Children’s National Hospital, stated that with 76% of healthcare organizations paying the ransoms, they are essentially funding the attacks themselves. Lesser emphasized the importance of creating and practicing a cyber incident protocol that involves all employees in order to mitigate the impacts of an attack. Furthermore, he stressed the need for executive leadership support and employee training and exercise to effectively respond to cyberattacks.
