Clinical Trials: How Personal Information for Thousands of Australians was Exposed
UpGuard has secured a database containing personal data on more than 37,000 individuals, which was open to abuse. The database belonged to Australian medical company Neoclinical, which matches patients with on-going clinical trials. Most people affected were based in Australia and New Zealand. The database included not only contact information but also responses to qualifying questions for clinical trials, including medical diagnoses, treatments and illicit drug use. The database was made private on 26 July.
