Ransomware attacks trend up on holidays, weekends

A lack of contingency plans and reduced staffing levels in security operations centers (SOCs) lead to longer investigation and response times for cyberattacks in healthcare, according to a survey by Cybereason. The study found that 30% of healthcare SOC teams took longer to assess the scope of weekend or holiday attacks. Cybereason suggested that industries explore staffing models that can improve incident response, taking inspiration from hospital emergency rooms and other emergency response organizations. It also recommended implementing isolation practices and upgrading to next-generation antivirus protection.
