Blockchain technology has the potential to provide increased security, transparency, and integrity in healthcare, addressing concerns around privacy, data security, and inefficient payment processes. However, there are persistent myths that blockchain is solely associated with bitcoin and cryptocurrency, limiting its potential uses. Healthcare organizations are slow to adopt blockchain due to the need for new applications and infrastructure. It is suggested that monitoring other industries’ implementations and keeping up with major blockchain players can help healthcare CIOs better understand the technology.
