Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, is facing a potential class-action lawsuit for allegedly using its Pixel tracking tool to collect patient information from hospital portals for targeted marketing purposes. The plaintiff, known as John Doe, filed the case on June 17 in California. The lawsuit claims that Meta Platforms violates federal and state laws, as well as its own contract with users, by redirecting patient communications to Facebook without their knowledge or authorization. At least 664 hospital systems or medical providers have allegedly shared patient data with Facebook via the Pixel tool.
