UK privacy watchdog reveals more than two dozen data breach incidents
The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has published details of over two dozen instances where it reprimanded organisations for data protection breaches, rather than imposing fines. One instance involved domestic abuse victims’ emergency accommodation addresses being shared with their abusers, which led to a wrongful arrest. The ICO’s aim is to reduce the impact of fines by withholding monetary penalties unless absolutely necessary.
