NHS cyber attack hits patient care with records left in ‘chaos’ three months on

A cyber attack on the NHS in August is still affecting patient care, with records missing, safety compromised and medication doses at risk of being missed. The attack targeted the software provider, Advanced, disrupting the Carenotes record system. Twelve NHS mental health trusts were impacted by the attack, potentially affecting tens of thousands of patients. It is regarded as the most disruptive cyber security incident on the health service since the WannaCry ransomware attack in 2017.
