Glasgow LEZ ‘failure’ as emissions rise 10 per cent since the policy began and the council is blaming the weather

Traffic emissions in Glasgow have risen around 10% since the introduction of Low Emission Zones (LEZs), with nitrogen dioxide levels recorded as 9.7% higher year-on-year, considerably impacting businesses. The council blames weather patterns for the spike, while an unnamed air quality expert suggested buses are primarily responsible for pollution. Plans are in place for similar schemes in Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh.
