The US Department of Justice has charged two individuals for using REvil ransomware to attack US businesses and government agencies. A Ukrainian man was charged with multiple attacks, including one against Kaseya. The DOJ also seized $6 million in funds related to alleged ransomware payments made by a Russian man. The arrests are part of a wider effort by the US government to combat cybercrime and bring perpetrators to justice. President Biden’s administration has taken a strong stance against cyberattacks. The healthcare sector has been particularly vulnerable to ransomware attacks.
