Apple released emergency software updates on Monday to fix a vulnerability that allowed the Pegasus spyware to infect devices. The exploit, discovered by Citizen Lab researchers, targets Apple’s image rendering library and can be used to remotely infect devices through iMessage without the user taking any action. The Pegasus spyware can turn on a user’s camera and microphone and record messages, texts, emails, and calls. The NSO Group, the company behind Pegasus, has been found to have sold the spyware to various countries around the world.
