A bug in the Express Medicare Plus app by Services Australia could allow the creation of fake digital COVID-19 vaccine certificates. Sydney-based software engineer Richard Nelson discovered the flaw and reported it to the government but received no response. The agency has since acknowledged the issue and urged the public to report individuals suspected of forging certificates. Fake vaccine cards have become a global problem, prompting countries like Malaysia and the European Union to implement measures to verify digital certificates. Services Australia has also warned about text scams related to vaccination proofs.
