The U.S. Department of Justice has announced that it will prioritize ransomware investigations as a national security threat, similar to terrorism. The agency will coordinate with a Washington task force and expects U.S. attorneys to share case details with leaders in Washington. The move comes as the Biden administration emphasizes cybersecurity, with billions of dollars allocated for this purpose. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has also warned about ransomware attacks on the healthcare sector.
