Patient info released to media outlets after Waikato DHB cyberattack

Yesterday, hackers who attacked Waikato District Health Board’s system released patient information to multiple media outlets. The media agencies have handed the information to the police and a privacy helpline has been set up. The Privacy Commissioner expects immediate action from Waikato DHB to notify and support those affected. The National Cyber Security Centre, Government Communications Security Bureau, Privacy Commission, and NZ Police are all involved in the case.
