The FBI has released a bulletin warning of Conti ransomware attacks targeting US healthcare and first-responder networks. The FBI has identified at least 16 incidents of such attacks in the past year. Conti ransomware typically steals victims’ files and encrypts servers and workstations to force a ransom payment. Healthcare networks, including law enforcement agencies and emergency services, have been victimized. The FBI recommends reporting incidents promptly and implementing mitigations such as regular backups and strong passwords. Ransomware attacks against healthcare organizations are increasing, with recent notable incidents in Ireland and Scripps Health.
