Health system IT specialist pleads guilty to stealing colleagues’ personal info

A 28-year-old IT specialist at Trillium Health in upstate New York pleaded guilty to stealing personal information from colleagues’ computers. The employee used his administrative access rights to search employees’ email and social media accounts without permission. The investigation discovered explicit photos and videos of at least 14 victims, as well as their personal data. Trillium Health spent over $100,000 on safeguarding affected employees. The charges carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
