France to trial digital vaccine passport scheme
France is conducting a month-long trial of a vaccine passport for air travel. Passengers traveling to Martinique and Guadeloupe can use the AOKpass app to prove vaccination or a negative test result. The trial aims to reduce boarding and arrival checks and may serve as a large-scale test for a future travel pass. Vaccine passports have raised concerns about discrimination and inequalities. Other countries, such as Israel and China, have already launched similar programs. The European Commission is also working on an EU-wide vaccine certificate.
