German hospitals receive digital health boost

Public hospitals in Germany are now eligible to apply for government funding under the Hospital Future Act (KHZG) to support digital health, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure projects. The funding, totaling €4.3 billion, aims to improve patient care, modernize IT structures, and enhance cybersecurity measures. Hospitals must submit their projects for funding by the end of September, with compliance to data protection regulations and the allocation of at least 15% of funds to IT security being important eligibility criteria. Failure to implement eligible digital services by 2025 may result in penalties for hospitals.
