NHS England has asked trusts to ensure their IT systems are “patched and protected” to prevent cyberattacks on the UK healthcare system. Further guidance will be issued to technical teams by the National Cyber Security Centre. This follows Russia’s violations of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. The health and social care secretary has stated cyberattacks are an established form of conflict and efforts are ongoing to bolster the system’s cybersecurity.
