NCSA: Confidence in security of connected devices often misplaced

Consumers of all ages need to pay closer attention to data security on mobile devices, according to a survey by the National Cyber Security Alliance. While 77% of those aged between 50 and 75 expressed confidence their devices were secure, 50% never or rarely deactivated unnecessary features that could compromise security, while over half frequently connected to unsecured Wi-Fi networks. Meanwhile, 42% of respondents from this age group never accessed sensitive data on public Wi-Fi, while 68% downloaded apps from trusted sources.
