AI and machine learning: A gift, and a curse, for cybersecurity
The Universal Health Services attack highlights the threat of ransomware in healthcare. The incident demonstrates how cybercriminals are leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to automate attacks and exfiltrate valuable information. However, AI and ML can also be used for defense by analyzing user behavior, detecting patterns, and identifying abnormalities. While AI isn’t foolproof, layered security controls and employee training are important in keeping health systems safe. The use of AI and ML in cybersecurity is still in its early stages.
