Bahrain, Kuwait, and Norway have released invasive COVID-19 contact tracing apps that are being used as mass surveillance tools, according to a report by Amnesty International. The apps, including Bahrain’s ‘BeAware’, Kuwait’s ‘Shlonik’, and Norway’s ‘Smittestopp’, track users’ locations and upload the data to a central server. Amnesty International calls for governments to halt the use of intrusive apps and protect privacy during the pandemic.
