Penn Medicine, Intel developing new AI approach to detecting brain tumors

The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is collaborating with Intel and 29 other research institutions worldwide to develop new deep learning models for identifying brain tumors. The researchers are using a federated learning approach, which allows them to work together without sharing patient data. The project, funded by the National Institutes of Health, aims to train algorithms to detect brain tumors using a large dataset while protecting sensitive patient data.
