Cyber-attacks on healthcare facilities ‘growing threat’ during coronavirus pandemic
Government and private hospitals in the Middle East and beyond are at an increased risk of ransomware attacks during the COVID-19 pandemic, warns global technology company Acronis. Cybercriminals are targeting healthcare facilities and medical professionals involved in treating patients. In response, Acronis advises healthcare facilities to establish anti-phishing strategies, use two-factor authentication and unique passwords, deploy ransomware protection and antivirus systems, and make public-facing websites static. Acronis is offering its integrated anti-ransomware defence solution for free to new customers added by service providers. The company stresses the importance of addressing cyber threats to protect patients’ lives.
