NHS patient data compromised in university cyber attack

The University of Manchester has been hit by a ransomware attack, compromising the details of over one million NHS patients. The information, collected for research from 200 hospitals, was accessed via back-up servers and it is unknown how many patients are affected. The university has warned that the compromised data might be made publicly available and could include NHS numbers and parts of patient postcodes.
