FDA, MITRE offer tips for med device cybersecurity
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in collaboration with the MITRE Corporation, is working on two initiatives to improve medical device cybersecurity. The first involves the use of a medical device cybersecurity sandbox to test device vulnerabilities and potential mitigations. The second initiative aims to integrate patient safety and clinical environment factors into the assessment of high-risk device vulnerabilities. The FDA encourages communication and information sharing about cybersecurity risks, and stakeholders have shared responsibility for cybersecurity risk management.
