Facebook charged with misleading users on health data visibility
Facebook has been accused of misleading users by not disclosing how much of their private information can be visible to outsiders, including health information. An in-depth review of health data shared on Facebook groups found that the platform inconsistently applies privacy and access controls. The report also argues that Facebook allows substantial patient health information to leak, violating the FTC Health Breach Notification rule. Facebook is currently negotiating a multibillion-dollar fine for privacy lapses.
