92 million user accounts of MyHeritage genealogy website breached
Genealogy and DNA testing service MyHeritage has suffered a data breach affecting 92,283,889 users. A security researcher discovered a file on a private server containing user log-in and hashed password information. MyHeritage confirmed the contents and launched an investigation. While the breach should have minimal impact as the file only contained login information, all users have been advised to change their login details and MyHeritage is expediting the introduction of two-factor authentication. The site is also working with an independent cybersecurity firm and informing EU authorities to comply with GDPR.
