NHS cyber-attack was ‘launched from North Korea’

siteadmin June 16, 2017

UK security officials believe North Korean hackers are responsible for the cyber attack last May that crippled parts of the National Health Service and other organisations. The British National Cyber Security Centre believes Lazarus, the same group reportedly responsible for attacking Sony Pictures in 2014, was behind the ransomware, which locked computers worldwide and demanded payment to unlock them. While the role of North Korean leadership in the attacks remains unclear, the hackers do not appear to have retrieved any of the ransom money paid.
