Optum, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, others launch blockchain pilot
Five healthcare organizations, including UnitedHealthcare and Humana, are launching a blockchain pilot to improve the quality of data and reduce administrative costs associated with updating healthcare provider directories. Currently, each payer must separately gather provider information, which is time-consuming and costly. The pilot will use blockchain technology to allow payers to share curated information, potentially creating a business model for others to purchase the data.
