HIMSS18 cybersecurity recap: Threat sharing and the need for boardroom priority
The HIMSS18 conference highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in healthcare organizations, with the majority of organizations experiencing a security incident last year. To combat cybersecurity threats, organizations must manage relationships with peers, business units, and vendors, as well as challenge vendors to share best practices. Cybersecurity needs to be a budget priority for organizations, and incident response plans should be routine. Threat sharing and partnerships with organizations like MITRE and NH-ISAC are also crucial for effective cybersecurity. Perimeter security is important, but additional measures like penetration testing and bug bounty programs are also beneficial.
