Cybersecurity firm finds ‘90% crud’ rule rings true among 100 billion DNS records
Farsight Security has announced that its DNSDB product now contains over 100 billion records, up from 35 billion in 2014. The database logs internet domain names, and CEO of Farsight, Paul Vixie, highlights that cyber criminals frequently abuse the domain name system to commit attacks. In related news, it is predicted that denial-of-service attacks using the internet of things and pre-planted malware will increase in 2017. Cyber security investigators can use DNS records to speed up their response.
