The healthcare industry has the highest occurrence of cybersecurity incidents and ranks lowest in fixing vulnerabilities, according to a report by Veracode. The main issues lie in credential, identity, and access management, cryptographic problems, information leakage, code quality, and insufficient input validation. The healthcare industry also has the second lowest pass rate for software vulnerability scans, with 67% failing to pass. The industry’s lack of investment in cybersecurity and use of outdated technology make it an attractive target for cybercriminals.
