ONC, NIST partner on $1 million initiative to fuel federated identity and health data privacy

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is offering a $1 million fund to find a new approach for patients and providers to access health records. The aim is to enable a single credential across multiple providers, streamlining the process and saving time and money. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT will also provide support for the pilot. Applications for the funding can be submitted until June 1, 2016.
