Brailer on who owns medical records
The National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, David Brailer, argues that Americans need to take control of their medical records. However, accessing this data is not easy as individuals cannot force healthcare providers to give their data to chosen individuals or prevent them from sharing it with others. Brailer emphasizes the need for Congress to update health-information policy and privacy rules. Brailer served as national coordinator from 2004-2006 and now leads a private equity firm.
