Poll: NIST advises simpler passwords, but will your hospital update its policies?
The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) has issued draft guidance advising healthcare and IT organizations to relax strict password requirements. Instead of complex passwords containing numbers and symbols, NIST suggests using phrases which are easier to remember but harder for hackers to decipher. This represents a major shift in password practice, and it remains to be seen whether organizations will adopt this recommendation. A survey has been launched to determine how hospitals are responding to the new advice.
