Registrants for federal EHR incentives continue to grow

Over 14,000 providers have registered for meaningful use incentives. Even though the GOP is considering repealing the law, providers who have registered attest to having “meaningfully used” certified electronic health records. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and its advisory committees will have more time to plan the meaningful use of EHRs for Stage 2. Interoperability will be key to the success of the program and the federal government is “working hard” on it. There are concerns about whether the technology is available to assess providers’ meaningful use requirements.
