A cyberattack on US hospital chain CommonSpirit Health has left 20 million patients at risk of receiving flawed healthcare, according to experts. The cyber attack, a ransomware hack that breached the hospital group’s IT system, caused delays in surgeries, including procedures for cancerous tumours, and ambulances had to be diverted from affected hospitals. Health workers and industry commentators have said the situation is dangerous and could have serious consequences for patients. CommonSpirit runs over 140 hospitals in 21 US states.
