CIOs share meaningful use concerns at CHIME

Two separate sessions at the CHIME15 Annual Forum raised concerns about the final rules on Stage 2 of meaningful use and the accompanying Stage 3 requirements. CIOs highlighted potential pitfalls in implementing the rules and expressed concerns about meeting the measures. The final rules were published in the Federal Register on October 15 and all three rules take effect 60 days from publication. There is a 60-day comment period for Stage 3, with the deadline for comment on December 15, 2015. Cyber security and patient identification were identified as critical concerns for CIOs.
