BYOD tips: Keep it simple, be nimble

Healthcare organizations implementing a BYOD policy should start by including users in the planning committee and expect problems, advise IT security experts from Providence Health & Services and Scripps Health. They suggest a five-point plan for a successful BYOD policy: establish a strategy, an appropriate use agreement, containerization, monitoring, and flexibility. They also emphasized the importance of clinicians buying into the policy and setting ground rules and penalties. Additionally, they mentioned the possibility of BYOT (Bring Your Own Thing) with the emergence of wearable sensors.
