CEOs and CIOs in the healthcare IT sector are making the hiring of chief information security officers (CISOs) a top priority. The demand for CISOs is increasing as industry and government requirements for data sharing between patients, doctors, hospitals, and other organisations in the healthcare sector continue to rise. However, finding suitable healthcare CISOs is challenging, due to a lack of security interest in the healthcare industry in the past. Recruiters are suggesting that healthcare CIOs should either hire experienced CISOs from other industries and train them in healthcare issues or train talented healthcare IT executives in security.
