42K get HIPAA breach letters
Wisconsin health insurance group, Unity Health Plans Insurance Corporation, has notified around 42,000 members that their protected health information may have been compromised following a HIPAA privacy breach. A portable computer hard drive containing health records of 41,437 individuals was lost from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy. Member names, dates of birth, name of prescription drugs, and dates of service were contained on the device. This breach is one of over 80,000 HIPAA breach cases reported since 2003.
