Fourth big HIPAA breach for OHSU

siteadmin July 29, 2013

3,044 patients at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) have been notified that their protected health information has been compromised after residents and physicians-in-training used Google cloud services to maintain a spreadsheet of patient data. This is the fourth big HIPAA breach for OHSU since 2009 and the third in the past two years. The majority of compromised patient data included names, medical record numbers, ages, provider names, diagnoses, dates of service, and addresses for 731 patients. OHSU has removed the data and re-educated residents on using secure tools.
