NHS seeks to recover from global cyber-attack as security concerns resurface | Hospitals
The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) has been caught up in a large-scale cyber attack that affected computer systems in almost 100 countries, demanding $300 in Bitcoin to allow users to access their files. The attack used stolen National Security Agency malware to attack Microsoft operating systems, and caused cancellations and diversions throughout the NHS system when staff were locked out of patient records and schedules. In response to the attack, the home secretary has said that the NHS will upgrade its software systems.
