The US government plans to use predictive modeling in an attempt to detect fraud in the Medicare program before claims are paid. By using real-time data and algorithms to identify potential fraudulent claims, officials hope to stop fraudulent payments before they are made, thus preventing waste and abuse in the Medicare system. The initiative will be launched on July 1 and builds on the tools provided by the Affordable Care Act.
